Volunteer’s
The mission of Fort Uncomphagre – Old Spanish Trail Interpretive Center is to promote and preserve the heritage and history for locals and visitors, using Fort Uncompahgre as a centerpiece to disseminate local, regional and national history. Volunteers are needed to operate the Fort as a Visitor and Interpretive Center. Other opportunities are being planned to expand the need for additional volunteers.
Some of the many areas volunteers can assist at Fort Uncompahgre:
- FRIENDS OF THE FORT AND THE OLD SPANISH TRAIL -Advisory Group
- Welcome Center – Greet Visitors, assist with Retail Sales and Entrance Fees to the Fort –
- Docents – provide tours of the Fort to the Public
- Opening and Closing Day Events
- Interior Exhibits and Gift Store
- Exterior Exhibits and Trails
- Social Media –outreach, newsletter, press releases, web site
- Historic restoration workshops
- Saturdays at the Fort – 2nd and 4th Saturday – June- October – re-enactors needed
