The mission of Fort Uncomphagre – Old Spanish Trail Interpretive Center is to promote and preserve the heritage and history for locals and visitors, using Fort Uncompahgre as a centerpiece to disseminate local, regional and national history. Volunteers are needed to operate the Fort as a Visitor and Interpretive Center.  Other opportunities are being planned to expand the need for additional volunteers.

  • Welcome Center – Greet Visitors, assist with Retail Sales and Entrance Fees to the Fort –
  • Docents – provide tours of the Fort to the Public
  • Opening and Closing Day Events
  • Interior Exhibits and Gift Store
  • Exterior Exhibits and Trails
  • Social Media –outreach, newsletter, press releases, web site
  • Historic restoration workshops
  • Saturdays at the Fort – 2nd and 4th Saturday – June- October – re-enactors needed
