“Step back in time with us as we explore the first trading post in western Colorado and learn about life 160 years ago”.Fort Uncompahgre is a replica of the original Robidoux’s Post built in the late 1820’s and was located along the historic North Branch of the Old Spanish Trail in the vicinity of Delta. Antoine Robidoux understood the value of location, when he built his fur trading post. Its geographic location and rich agricultural land has been attracting people for thousands of years. “The Fort Tour is about one hour and includes several activities for students to experience the fur trader life”. tomahawk throwing, dipping candles and using flint to start fires. Donkey, turkeys and sheep are part of the Fort experience.
